About the Chapter
The PTPI Istanbul Chapter has long been a proud part of our international network. Like many others, it is currently in a phase of reawakening after the global challenges brought on by the pandemic. As life begins to normalize, the chapter is actively exploring new ways to re-engage with the local community, youth, and international partners.
With a deep respect for cultural heritage and people-to-people dialogue, the Istanbul Chapter is keen to welcome collaborations and ideas that align with PTPI’s mission of promoting peace through understanding.
About Istanbul
Istanbul is one of the world’s most captivating cities—a historic bridge between East and West. Spanning both Europe and Asia across the Bosporus Strait, Istanbul is Turkey’s largest city and a thriving hub of culture, history, and commerce. With a population of over 15 million, it’s the most populous city in Europe and one of the most dynamic metropolitan areas globally.
From its days as Byzantium and Constantinople to its modern identity, Istanbul is steeped in centuries of rich history. Iconic landmarks like the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar invite visitors into a vivid tapestry of Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman heritage.
