🗓️ Why Dates Like April 17 Matter – and A Creative Idea from Our Community

Today, April 17, we pause to reflect on two global awareness days that speak deeply to our mission:

🕊️ International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda
While officially observed on April 7, reflection continues throughout the month. This is a time to promote education about the dangers of hate, and to honour the courage of those who seek peace, healing, and reconciliation. For PTPI, this is core to who we are.

⚖️ World Hemophilia Day
This day raises awareness for people with bleeding disorders and the urgent need for health equity around the world. For our chapters involved in humanitarian projects, this is a reminder that peace also means access to care, dignity, and inclusion.

💡 A Creative Proposal from Bonnie in the USA

One of our longtime members, Bonnie Hirschhorn, suggested something inspiring:
🖼️ A PTPI Awareness Calendar – each month featuring a cause, a story, or an artwork submitted by chapters or members. It could become a fundraiser, an art contest, or simply a tool to raise awareness through peace and creativity.

We love this idea. Do you?

📩 Let us know at office@ptpi.network if you’d like to help make this happen – or if your chapter would like to submit a theme, design, or even a story of your own.

Let’s continue advancing peace through understanding — one memory, one story, one image at a time.
