To maintain consistency across our global network, the following communication principles should guide newsletters, social media posts, reports, and chapter updates.
1. Begin with the Promise
Whenever possible, reference the purpose of PTPI early in communications. This reminds readers why the organisation exists.
2. Highlight Real Connections
Share examples of people meeting, collaborating, learning, or exchanging ideas.
3. Focus on People
PTPI’s strength lies in human relationships. Communications should highlight people rather than structures or bureaucracy.
4. Use Clear and Positive Language
Simple language, real examples, and forward-looking messages best reflect PTPI’s spirit.
Standard PTPI Message Opening
To help chapters and leaders communicate consistently, the following opening sentence can be used in newsletters, reports, and public communications.
People to People International exists to connect people across cultures so that understanding grows and trust can flourish.
Alternative versions may also be used:
- For nearly 70 years, PTPI has worked to bring people together across cultures so understanding can grow.
- PTPI creates opportunities for people from different countries and cultures to meet, learn from one another, and build lasting relationships.
PTPI Message Template for Chapters
Chapters may find the following simple structure helpful when writing updates or communications.
1. Start with the Purpose
One sentence reminding readers what PTPI stands for.
2. Share the Activity
Explain what the chapter did or what event took place.
3. Highlight the People
Mention participants, communities, or partners involved.
4. Show the Connection
Explain how the activity helped build understanding or relationships.
5. Invite Participation
Encourage readers to join future activities or collaborate.
A Note of Appreciation
PTPI is grateful for the guidance and friendship of Fervor Marketing, whose work since 2014 has helped the organisation strengthen its voice and communication clarity.
As PTPI continues to grow and rebuild its global network, we remain committed to applying the principles they shared with us.
These principles help ensure that every message reflects the core purpose of the organisation: bringing people together to build understanding and trust across cultures.
Document Purpose: This guidance is intended to support the PTPI Global Assembly, the Global Coordination Centre, and chapters worldwide so that our communications remain aligned, clear, and mission-focused.
