Kansas City, Missouri (often shortened to KC or KCMO), is a vibrant and historically rich city located in the heart of the United States. With a population of over 500,000 and a metro area exceeding 2.3 million residents, it is the largest city in Missouri and one of the cultural jewels of the Midwest.

Founded in the 1830s as a river port at the confluence of the Missouri and Kansas Rivers, Kansas City’s early growth was fueled by trade, westward expansion, and jazz. Incorporated in 1850, its identity became distinct from the nearby Kansas Territory by adopting the name Kansas City—a name now synonymous with hospitality, music, and mouthwatering cuisine.

About the Chapter
The PTPI Kansas City Chapter is one of the most active in the United States, known for its distinctive program supporting international military officers and their families during their training at Fort Leavenworth. Through this initiative, KC chapter members serve as social and cultural ambassadors, offering a warm welcome, home visits, and ongoing friendships with officers from across the globe.

This grassroots chapter also hosts regular potluck dinners, cultural outings, and service activities—ranging from tours of the National World War I Museum to supporting community events and international visitors. Many of the chapter’s members have maintained lifelong friendships with officers they’ve hosted, leading to meaningful travel opportunities abroad and true person-to-person connections.

Important Note
This chapter is not the former World Headquarters (WHQ) of PTPI, which was located in Kansas City prior to its closure. The current chapter remains independent and proudly affiliated with PTPI’s Global Coordination Centre (GCC) in Brussels, Belgium.
