🌟 Member Spotlight: Gunild Bogdahn – A Bridge Between Cultures
Few embody the spirit of People to People International quite like Gunild Bogdahn, Vice President of PTPI Denmark. A longtime member and participant in both European and international PTPI conferences, Gunild has mastered the art of homestay diplomacy — sharing deep cultural experiences across Japan, New Zealand, the United States, and South America.
This May, she embarks on her eighth journey to Japan, once again reconnecting with our friends in PTPI Japan and experiencing the country’s beauty through homestays, cultural visits, and heartfelt conversations.
Her trip, organized in collaboration with Mr. Moriatsu Tamai and hosted by Mrs. Ruriko Nakajima, President of PTPI Japan, includes:
Kindergarten visits and music exchange in Okinawa
A guided tour through Hiroshima’s Peace Park, and local cuisine like okonomiyaki
A visit to Miyajima, sacred island of the floating torii gate
Homestay experiences in Kikugawa, with school visits and a tea ceremony
Stays in traditional inns (onsen) in Hamamatsu
Final explorations of Kyoto and Nara, traveling like locals on the Shinkansen
“Even without a shared language, gestures and smiles always lead to a meaningful exchange,” Gunild shares.
She is already inviting PTPI members to join her again in May 2026. Interested members are encouraged to get in touch soon.
