Leading the global rebuild of People to People International
Chalks Corriette is a global community builder and international change manager, serving as Director General of People to People International (PTPI), based in Brussels.
He brings a genuinely global perspective shaped by his Dominican heritage, British education, and professional experience across multiple countries. In PTPI’s 70-year history, he is the first non-American to lead the organisation, reflecting its continued evolution as a global network.
Chalks developed his career with DHL, working across business, IT, and communications functions, eventually at board level. He operated in an environment spanning 220 countries and territories, contributing to global initiatives within business units responsible for up to 120,000 people. This experience shaped his approach to execution, systems thinking, and cross-cultural coordination in complex international environments.
Today, he leads the post-pandemic rebuilding and modernisation of PTPI as a global platform for citizen diplomacy. The organisation is active across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas, engaging thousands of participants through youth mobility, education, and community-led peacebuilding initiatives. A key focus is the gradual rebuilding of PTPI’s global footprint, with the long-term aim of returning to the 160 countries in which it operated prior to the pandemic.
Under his leadership, PTPI is pursuing structured growth, strengthened governance, and long-term sustainability. This includes developing scalable programmes, expanding strategic partnerships, and building a stable financial base through diversified funding and donor engagement.
Chalks is known for combining energy with clarity, and for creating environments where people from all backgrounds can connect with purpose and mutual respect.
Outside of his professional work, he is deeply engaged in community building through movement and music, teaching Zumba and Salsa as a way of bringing people together across cultures.
He lives in Belgium with his wife, two children, and their dogs.
