Building the Next Chapter: Strengthening PTPI for the Years Ahead
As People to People International continues its journey through its 70th year, our focus is clear:
to rebuild with purpose, discipline, and strong global partnerships.
This is not a return to the past.
It is a step forward.
A Network Reconnecting and Rebuilding
Across the PTPI network, chapters are re-engaging, activities are restarting, and new connections are forming.
From community-led cultural exchange programmes to youth and climate initiatives, there is a growing sense of movement.
But rebuilding a global organisation requires more than activity.
It requires structure, alignment, and trust.
Guided by the General Assembly
This work is not happening in isolation.
It is guided by the collective direction of PTPI’s leadership and members.
👉 This work is guided by our Strategic Rebuild Framework 2026–2028, as endorsed through the PTPI General Assembly.
This framework ensures that:
- decisions are aligned
- priorities are clear
- progress is structured and transparent
Introducing PTPI 2.0
As part of this next phase, PTPI is shaping what we refer to as PTPI 2.0.
This is a forward-looking model designed to:
- strengthen financial sustainability
- build scalable programmes
- modernise how we operate as a global network
To support this work, PTPI is exploring collaboration with leading academic institutions, including Arizona State University and its Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Through this potential collaboration, graduate students will work with PTPI leadership to examine:
- long-term sustainability models
- youth mobility as a growth engine
- partnership-driven global expansion
This reflects a deliberate step to combine real-world experience with fresh, external thinking.
Working with Strong Partners
A key part of this next phase is collaboration.
PTPI is actively engaging with organisations, institutions, and programme partners who bring:
- operational expertise
- local and regional strength
- shared values around education, exchange, and peacebuilding
This partnership-led approach allows PTPI to:
- deliver with quality
- reduce operational risk
- scale responsibly over time
A Platform for the Next Generation
One of the areas of focus is the gradual rebuilding of structured programmes, including youth mobility, education, and cross-cultural exchange.
These programmes are being developed carefully:
- starting with pilot initiatives
- working through trusted partners
- ensuring safeguarding and quality standards are in place
This is deliberate.
We are building a model that works today, and will still work in ten years.
A Clear Direction for the Future
PTPI’s long-term ambition remains strong.
Before the pandemic, the organisation operated across approximately 160 countries.
Rebuilding that global presence will take time.
Our approach is simple:
- focus on quality before scale
- strengthen what works
- grow through trust and consistency
What This Means for Our Community
PTPI is, and always will be, a network of people.
Chapters remain at the heart of everything we do.
Local leadership, local activity, and local relationships are what bring the organisation to life.
At the same time, the Global Coordination Centre is working to:
- connect activity across the network
- support chapters with structure and visibility
- build partnerships that benefit all
Looking Ahead
The next phase of PTPI will not be defined by how quickly we grow, but by how well we build.
We are laying the foundations for the next 10 years:
- stronger partnerships
- clearer structures
- sustainable programmes
- and a renewed sense of global connection
Because in a world that is increasingly complex,
the need for understanding between people has never been greater.
