PTPI 2.0: Shaping the Next 70 Years Together

People to People International is entering a new phase. On Sunday 25 October 2026, six Student Consultants from Arizona State University's Thunderbird School of Global Management arrived in Brussels to begin work with us on PTPI 2.0.

What PTPI 2.0 is

PTPI 2.0 is a review of how our organisation works, what we offer and how we serve the next generation of citizen diplomats. Seventy years after our founding, the mission stays the same. The question is how we deliver it well in a changed world.

The project brief asks one central question:

"How can People to People International build a financially sustainable, platform-led global exchange organization that supports youth mobility and citizen diplomacy for the next generation?"

Who the Student Consultants are

The Student Consultants bring experience in strategy, finance, data, community development, education and public health. Together they represent the United States, Indonesia and Taiwan, with two members also having roots in Iran and Mexico. Their range of backgrounds reflects the international spirit PTPI was founded on.

What the Student Consultants will do

The Student Consultants will work with us in Brussels from 26 October to 13 November, meeting staff, volunteers and members. They will then spend a further three weeks shaping what they have learned into recommendations for PTPI, presenting their final work in the week of 23 November.

Why your voice matters

An outside view is valuable, but it is only half the picture. The other half comes from you: the members, chapters, alumni and young people who know what PTPI means in practice.

We want to hear:

  • What you want us to make sure we include
  • Any considerations we should keep in mind
  • Your hopes and dreams for the next chapter of PTPI

A focus on youth

We want to strengthen our youth material. Ideas from younger members are especially welcome, and we ask chapter youth leaders to encourage their young people to take part.

What happens to your feedback

Everything you send will be shared with the Student Consultants to inform their work. Their findings will be shared first with the General Assembly on a Zoom call, then with the whole network through the Connections newsletter and a news page on our website.

Speak to our Student Consultants

We welcome volunteers for short Zoom conversations with the Student Consultants. Tell us when you are available.

Our archives: still time to help

Alongside PTPI 2.0, we are rebuilding our archives, and this work continues until the end of 2026. We are gathering information about past PTPI news, events, people and places.

Please do not assume someone else will send it. They may not. Even one confirmed fact helps. If you know the date or location of a Worldwide Conference, for example, send us what you know. Like good detectives, we can build a fuller record by fitting small pieces of information together.

The most useful details answer four questions: who, where, when and why. If you send photographs, please tell us who is in them where you can, and confirm you have permission to share them.
