People to People International (PTPI) is relaunching its Youth Mobility Program, reaffirming our long-standing belief that peace is built when young people learn, live, and work across cultures.
Building on decades of experience in citizen diplomacy, PTPI’s Youth Mobility Program supports safe, structured, and meaningful international experiences for high school and university-level participants, connecting learning with real communities around the world.
Why Youth & Student Mobility Matters
International mobility is more than travel. When young people experience daily life in another culture, whether through language immersion, study, internships, or service learning, they develop empathy, resilience, and the ability to lead with understanding.
At PTPI, youth mobility is a practical expression of our mission:
Advancing Peace Through Understanding.
These experiences help participants:
- Build cross-cultural competence
- Strengthen language and communication skills
- Engage with global challenges through lived experience
- Form lasting personal and professional connections
What the Program Includes
The PTPI Youth Mobility Program supports a range of pathways, adapted to age, context, and partner capacity, including:
- High school cultural exchanges and language immersion
- University study abroad, internships, and service learning
- Faculty-led and non-faculty-led programs
- Short-term and longer-term mobility formats
- Blended and hybrid models where appropriate
Programs may focus on culture, education, environment, health, technology, arts, or community development, always grounded in mutual respect and shared learning.
A Chapter-Driven, Global Effort
PTPI’s global network of chapters plays a central role in this work.
Chapters are encouraged to:
- Connect with local high schools, colleges, and universities
- Explore partnerships with educators, NGOs, clinics, community groups, and local institutions
- Identify opportunities for exchanges, internships, and collaborative projects
- Express interest in Erasmus+ and other mobility-related partnerships
PTPI provides coordination, standards, safeguarding frameworks, and program-level support, while implementation partners deliver activities on the ground.
