I heard this from a group of young people recently.
It stayed with me.
Not because it’s dramatic.
Because it feels… accurate.
In too many places today:
- outcomes matter more than truth
- confidence beats accuracy
- visibility wins over integrity
And when that happens, something deeper shifts.
Trust erodes.
And without trust:
- systems slow down
- relationships weaken
- collaboration becomes fragile
Because every functioning system depends on one simple thing:
a shared belief that what we are hearing is broadly true.
Remove that, and everything becomes harder.
The good news?
This is not just a problem.
It’s a choice.
We can still build:
- systems where honesty is expected
- environments where truth matters
- communities where trust is protected
Because in the end:
If honesty becomes optional, trust disappears.
And without trust, nothing meaningful holds.
