Carrying the Torch of Peace Through Understanding – Then, Now, and Always

Since its founding in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, People to People International (PTPI) has been more than just an organization—it has been a global family committed to building bridges, one connection at a time.

Through the decades, our members have created memories, launched life-changing initiatives, supported their communities, and opened their homes and hearts to people from across the world. Our youth chapters in particular have carried the spirit of PTPI proudly—leading by example in classrooms, villages, and cities, spreading understanding and goodwill across borders.

Our conferences—both regional and global—have brought us together in unforgettable ways. We’ve danced together, debated future plans, discovered new cultures, broken bread, and shared dreams. And while there have been moments of challenge—like the heartbreaking bankruptcy of the former World Headquarters in Kansas City—we have never given up.

Today, our chapters around the world continue the legacy, from Africa to Asia, Europe to the Americas. The Global Coordination Centre (GCC) in Brussels is now our operational base—powered by volunteer spirit, supported by AI tools, and driven by passionate members who believe that people, not politics, will shape the peaceful world we strive for.

And yet—there’s more to do.

We need to reconnect with our past. With the members, chapters, staff, and board members who gave so much and helped us grow. We want to welcome them back—not just to remember the past—but to help shape the future.

We still carry the torch that Eisenhower lit. The flame is alive—and together, we can make it burn brighter than ever.

Let’s write the next chapter—together.
