About the Chapter
PTPI Korea was established in 1965 as the first international chapter outside of the United States. Since then, it has become a cornerstone of PTPI’s global network and a powerful force for international friendship and cultural exchange in East Asia.
Today, the Korea National Headquarters in Seoul supports a vibrant network of 34 adult chapters and 37 student chapters across the country. Many chapters are located in cities with U.S. military bases—such as Pyeongtaek, Daegu, and Ulsan—where members act as bridges of cultural diplomacy and peace.
PTPI Korea is well known for organizing cultural events, homestay exchanges, youth development activities, and cross-border partnerships with chapters in Taiwan, Mongolia, Armenia, and Japan, among others.
Their Annual Banquet and International Friendship Night in December is a beloved tradition celebrating partnerships and the shared mission of Peace through Understanding.
International Collaboration
PTPI Korea is a proud leader in regional cooperation and hosts delegations and exchange events with fellow Asia-Pacific chapters. Past activities include:
-
Student exchange programs
-
International children’s art exhibitions
-
Cross-chapter visits with Tainan (Taiwan), Ulsan (Korea), and Yerevan (Armenia)
-
Cultural tours and peace-themed events supported by the Korean Ministry of the Interior
They are also developing plans to operate a PTPI Asia-Pacific Office, enhancing coordination between chapters in the region.
