People to People International (PTPI): Reconnecting Through Experience, One Human Story at a Time
Brussels, Belgium — In a time when conflict dominates headlines and divisions deepen, People to People International (PTPI) is doubling down on something far more powerful: connection through experience.
Across the globe, PTPI alumni and members are reigniting bonds—recalling homestays in Japan, youth-led projects in South Korea, cultural exchanges in Denmark, community service in Poland, and cross-border friendships forged in South America. These aren’t just memories—they are fuel for a movement rooted in empathy and understanding.
“Experience is the most effective peacebuilder,” says Chalks Corriette, Director-General of PTPI. “When you break bread with a host family or work shoulder to shoulder with someone from another culture, you don’t just learn—you connect. And that connection becomes the seed of peace.”
While the organization continues to support chapters worldwide, it is now putting a stronger emphasis on stories, shared memory, and the ripple effects of local action. PTPI isn’t chasing scale—it’s chasing depth.
Its recent Connections newsletter brought this vision to life: celebrating students on exchange, spotlighting grassroots leaders, and highlighting experiences like the recent PTPI gathering in Warsaw and impactful work in Tallinn and Mombasa.
“The idea of ‘Peace through Understanding’ matters now more than ever,” adds Corriette. “But we must show—not just tell—how it looks in real life. That’s why we’re committed to shining a light on the small moments that shape lives.”
Whether you’re an alum from decades past or someone just discovering PTPI, this is your invitation to reconnect. There’s room for everyone in this global family—and every story matters.
