History

Our journey starts on September 11, 1956, when U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower recognized the significance of promoting understanding and mutual respect between individuals for achieving peaceful international relations. This led to the formation of People to People International (PTPI), an organization with a rich history that includes influential figures such as businessman J.C. Hall, comedian Bob Hope, and visionary Walt Disney.

Eventually, PTPI expanded its outreach to at least 160 countries, connecting individuals from diverse cultures to explore global issues, serve their communities, and become effective leaders in creating a more harmonious world. In 2023, we took another step forward with the opening of the Global Chapter Coordination Centre in Belgium, which serves as a central hub for our Chapter Network and their activities.
